Fischer: Republicans want chance to vote on Obamacare amendments

Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer says Republicans want a chance to debate and vote on amendments that would repeal funding portions of Obamacare.

After waiting for a 21 hour talking marathon to end, the Senate went ahead and advanced legislation required to avert a partial government shutdown at midnight Monday. And it's expected to remove from that bill the provision to defund the health care overhaul.

Fischer told reporters Wednesday there are amendments to Obamacare that need to be voted on before she can consider approving a continuing resolution, including one she says has bipartisan support and would repeal a costly medical device tax.

Fischer contends Administration arguments that Obamacare premiums for health insurance are lower than anticipated ignore the fact that health insurance costs for many will still rise under the legislation.
