Overman: Airport hotel has potential

Scotts Bluff County Airport Authority Board Chair Don Overman says a proposal to build a $2.1 million hotel at West Nebraska Regional Airport has potential. Board members and Airport Manager Darwin Skelton says the proposal calls for a $2.1. million two story hotel with over 30 rooms just west of the terminal parking lot.

Overman says the company maintains there is a need for more lodging in the Scottsbluff/Gering area, and he emphasized it is part of the long term plan for the airport.

As is the case for a hotel project in Gering, the company is looking for local investors to help make the project come to fruition. Overman says the hotel would be a recognizable franchise chain, but board members are not disclosing any other details at this time.
