Crisp conditions greet WNCC Foundation Fall Frolic participants

"Despite the fall chill in the air, it was a good day for families and serious runners alike," said Dayle Wallien, Executive Director of the WNCC Foundation. "This event is a fun way to raise funds to support WNCC students."

Top overall male finishers for the 5K were Aaron Carrizales, Gering, with a time of 16:44, Xavier Arellano, Gering, with a time of 19:55 and Juan Carrizales, Gering, with a time of 20:17.

Top overall female finishers for the 5K were Victoria Vardell, Laramie, WY with a time of 22:55 , Josephine Vardell, Scottsbluff, with a time of 24:42 and Sami Webb, Scottsbluff, with a time of 25:26.

Husband and wife due, Joe and Anne Marie Wilson of Lingle, WY, ran away with the overall top titles in the 10K, Joe with a time of 35:10, AnneMarie with a time of 43:37. John Seiler, Scottsbluff, took second in the men's 10K with a time of 38:23, with Ryan Larson, Scottsbluff, coming in at 41:29.

Katie Carrizales, Gering, took second overall in the women's 10K, with a time of 43:54, with Jamie Selzer, Scottsbluff, coming in with a finish time of 46:34. A complete list of 5K and 10K race results can be found on the WNCC Foundation Fall Frolic Facebook page at:

In the 1 mile kids' race, for kids 8 – 12, Jackson Howard, Gering, was the top finisher, with Ethan and Caleb Koranda of Mitchell taking second and third place finishes.

In the 1K kids' race, for kids 7 and under, top finishers were Dominic Mendez, Aaron Rawlings, and Zachary Araujo of Bayard.

A number of City of Gering employees and City of Scottsbluff employees participated in a challenge to each other to make a commitment to health. While the results are still being tallied, the entity with the most people participating will receive an award for its commitment to health.
