Cat on a Hot Tin Roof opens Wednesday

Theatre West's summer repertory production of the Tennessee Williams classic play "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" opens Wednesday night. Director John O'Hagan, who teaches acting, directing and stage combat at the University of Wyoming, is back after directing last summer's presentation of "Rent".

O'Hagen says rehearsals have been great, and while he did not select the cast for the play himself, he could not have done better. He says for hime, the process has been invigorating and tough, but it has been a joy as a director to watch the work come together with a great cast of actors.

The cast for this first play includes William Groth as Big Daddy, Christi Weis as Big Mama Pollitt, Tim Cochran as Brick, Amber Turner plays Maggie, Andy Brown is Gooper Pollitt, Shelly Poncelet is Mae Pollitt, Steve Pederzani as Dr. Baugh, Ryan Bevard plays Reverand Tooker, Alaina Millay is Dixie, Carsyn Long as Trixie, Kaleb Kautz plays Buster, Kaden Kautz is Sonny and Lily Rogers is cast as Polly.

O'Hagen believes it is not only one of the most beautiful plays written in the modern era, but also one of the most difficult. Performances will be Wednesday through Saturday, and next Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 each evening. Tickets can be purchased at the Theatre West Box Office at WNCC or by calling 635-6193.
