Legendary UP locomotive to overnight in Gering Thursday

The Union Pacific's legendary #844 Steam Locomotive will roll into Gering at 1:45 p.m. Thursday to park overnight at the 7th Street U.P. yard. The engine is making a historic trip to the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island and points east. It is a great photo opportunity for residents and visitors to capture images of the historic engine against our local scenic landmarks as backdrops.

The locomotive is on the fifth leg of the UP 150 Express, a multi-segment tour celebrating Union Pacific's 150th anniversary.

The locomotive will also be at LaGrange, Wyoming Thursday morning for a half hour after arriving at 10:30 a.m. it will also be in South Morrill from 11:45 to Noon.
