Ruth E. Lindgren, 92, Bridgeport

Ruth E. Lindgren, 92 of Bridgeport, NE passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Berosek officiating. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 1 from 1:00 -7:00 p.m. at Bridgeport Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be given to the Bridgeport Fire Department's - Ambulance Rescue. Tributes of sympathy may be left at

Ruth was born in September 21, 1921 in Eastern, Nebraska to Earl Gordon and Isabel (Krebs) Blanchard. She moved to Oshkosh with her family in 1923. She received her education in Oshkosh, graduating from High School and then teaching rural school for 2 years. She married Carl Lindgren in 1940 at her parent's ranch near Oshkosh. The couple lived in Deuel County until 1945, moving west of Bridgeport to the Hannawald Ranch. In 1949, they moved to the Camp Clark Ranch, where they developed their Blanchard & Lindgren Polled Hereford herd into one of the largest in the United States. In 1959, the family moved 4 miles into Bridgeport, where Ruth lived in the same house until the day she died.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport, Eagles Auxiliary and Senior Citizens Organization.

Ruth is survived by her sister Helen Hursch of Larkspur, CA; two children: son, Donald and Teresa Lindgren of Centennial, CO and daughter Janet Lindgren of New York, NY; four grandchildren: Garth Schofield of The Hague, Netherlands, Morgan Schofield of New York, NY, Kris and Cadie Lindgren of Fort Collins, Colorado and Kile and Christina Lindgren of Windsor, Colorado; and one great-grandchild: Emma Ann Lindgren, daughter to Kile and Christina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; two infant brothers; and son, Robert Lindgren.
