Community set to welcome Monument Marathon runners

Everything is set for Saturday's Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon, and it kicks off tomorrow (Friday) with the Scotts Bluff County Tourism Health Expo, which will be indoors at WNCC from noon to 9 p.m.

Runners will be picking their race packets up at the Expo. WNCC Foundation president Dayle Wallien reminds runners while the course is perfect right now, there are spots on the course where runners could have some muddy conditions if we get forecast precipitation.

Saturday's forecast is calling for a likelihood of showers throughout the day. Wallien said as of today (Thursday), they have 421 runners signed up, with exactly 100 of those participating in the full marathon. The balance will be doing the half marathon.

Wallien said they have enough volunteers so the best thing they can do is come cheer on the runners.
