Scottsbluff man charged with child abuse

A 33 year old Scottsbluff man has been charged with two counts of felony child abuse for allegedly striking his step-children.

According to court documents, Scottsbluff Police received information regarding two children that had been struck by their step-father. The report indicated the 7 year old boy had been slapped across the face and the 8 year old girl had been thrown into a wall. Statements were taken from both children, who provided information that supported the charges.

The documents indicate that after being interviewed by police, the suspect, Matthew Buckridge confirmed that he had disciplined the children because the house was a mess. Buckridge was then taken into custody and charged with two counts of intentional child abuse without injury.

Bond was set at 10% of $100,000. A preliminary hearing will be held on September 10th at 2:30 p.m.
