Mildred Fern "Mid" Hummel, 103, Scottsbluff

Mildred Fern "Mid" Hummel, 103 of Scottsbluff, passed away, Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Northfield Retirement Communities Care Center in Scottsbluff.

Her memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Vince Parsons officiating. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. A celebration of her life will also be held, Saturday, October 19, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Scottsbluff Barn Anew Bed and Breakfast Courtyard.

Memorials have been established to St. Agnes Catholic Church and St. Agnes School Foundation. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mildred was born July 18, 1910, at Long Pine, Nebraska to Peter and Agnes (Stevens) Staal. She spent her early childhood in Long Pine and graduated from Long Pine High School. Following her graduation she move to Gordon, Nebraska and worked for several years at the JC Penny Store. She met Robert Hummel, the love of her life, and they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved to California where Mid worked for JC Penny in Long Beach and North Hollywood. Bob worked in a printing company. When Bob was drafted during World War II, Mid moved back to Scottsbluff where she worked for Taylor's Furniture.

Mid was a people person, loved selling furniture and pleasing people. When Bob returned from the service they settled in Scottsbluff where Bob was with Business Farmer Printing Company for many years. To this union they were blessed with two daughters and she loved being involved in all of their activities.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a longtime member and past president of the DOES and a member of many bridge clubs.

Survivors include her daughters, Mitzi (Wayne) Mueller of North Platte; and their son, Rob (Rebecca) Mueller of Moab, Utah; and Cher (Allan) Maybee of Scottsbluff; and their sons, Matt (Lindsey) Maybee of Laramie, Wyoming, Marc (Megan) Maybee of Salt Lake City, Utah and their daughter, Olivia, Chuck (Alberta) Maybee of Denver, Colorado and their children Christine, Katelynn, and Tyler; numerous nieces and nephews; and she will be missed by many friends.
