Frieda (Specht) Goss, 96, Scottsbluff

Frieda (Specht) Goss, 96 of Scottsbluff, went to be with her Savior, on Sunday October 6, 2013 at the Residency Care Center. Her funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. James Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Ralph Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials in her name may be made to the church. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the funeral. Frieda was born November 29, 1916 in Scottsbluff to Henry and Eva (Foos) Specht. She attended valley schools. She married Rinard Goss March 3, 1940 in Bayard, Nebraska. That same year, she and Rinard moved to Hollywood, California, where they worked for movie star Ray "Crash" Corrigan, before returning to Nebraska.

They farmed in Gering, Bayard, and the Sunflower areas until retiring from farming in 1974. Frieda and Rinard were employed as custodians for Farm Credit Services for 8 years and United Telephone System (Sprint) for 28 years before retiring at 86 years of age.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church since her baptism. She was a Sunday School teacher, youth counselor, and sang in the German and English Choir. She was also a member of the LWML, the Dorcas Society, the Panhandle Rock and Gem Club and the Germans from Russia Club. Her hardest work however, came from working at Excalibur Floral trying to keep her son's business clean and shiny at all times.

She is survived by her daughter Jane (Joseph) Fritz of Wausaukee, WI, her son Robert Goss of Scottsbluff and her special cousins Henry Specht of Colorado and Fred (deceased) and his wife Mollie Specht of Alliance. She is also survived by extended family Harold, Henry, Bill, Donald and Robert Weinmaster, Evelyn Weinmeister, Vera Heidingsfelder, Dorothy Fox, Kathryn Ray, Wilma Bott, Rose Hullinger and Linda Kehn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rinard, brother Jacob, her step mother and several step brothers and step sisters.
