Assault, weapons suspects to face trial
Two area men arrested for reportedly threatening and assaulting residents with a firearm September 3rd had trials set after entering not Guilty pleas Friday.
28 year old Ray Camacho of Gering and 27 year old James J.R. Billingsley were taken into custody after a car they were riding in was stopped by law enforcement on Highway 26 near the Monument Mall. The men are believed to have been involved in a disturbance at an East Overland business parking lot where a firearm was brandished. Police also say they entered a home in Scottsbluff where a man was attacked with a weapon while an armed male looked on.
Ammunition and a firearm were recovered when their vehicle was stopped by law enforcement.
Camacho will have a jury trial in January on 6 counts of terroristic threats, 6 counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. Billingsley will face trial in December on one count of terroristic threats and one count of use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Billingsly is being held on $100,000 bond, while Camacho is being held on $950,000 bond.
