Pilot Lincoln Heights security project being considered by school board
Updated school security measures will be considered by the Scottsbluff school district when they meet this evening. The improvements include a pilot project at Lincoln Heights elementary school that may be implemented at all the elementary schools.
Following input from a consultant with the Jeffco school district in Colorado, the pilot project being considered will place a wide-angle camera and buzzer system at the entrance of Lincoln Heights and include installation of " target hardening" glass doors and windows.
Facilities Director Randy Scott says the project will also add a Campus security supervisor at the school.
Scott says the district is also planning to phase in a digital security system at the High School and Middle school to replace the current analog system. Scott says a central security office is planned in the interior entryway of Scottsbluff High School that will enable districtwide camera monitoring and recording as well as an office location for the security personnel.
