Evacuations ordered around Guernsey, Hartville
Residents in Guernsey and Hartville are being told to prepare for evacuation in the next few hours due to a growing wildfire at Guernsey State Park.
An evacuation is underway at this time for the Pleasant Valley area only.
Residents should evacuate immediately if they hear sirens, get a Code Red call, or hear it on NOAA All-Hazards Radio.
The Platte County Emergency Management said that evacuees will have the option of going to the Wheatland Fairgrounds, by way of South Guernsey Highway/Grayrocks Road, or the Torrington Fairgrounds by way of Highway 26.
Officials are asking residents to check in at the fairgrounds at either location before going to relatives or friends.
Busses will be provided at the school bus garage. Residents who need a ride should go to the bus garage.
