Most of Pine Ridge Ranger District now open

Chadron – John Griesinger, Pine Ridge District Ranger, is pleased to announce that most of the Pine Ridge Ranger District is now open for visitors and hunters, including all of the developed campgrounds, main roads and several trails.

Some Forest Service roads and trails, along with the portion of the Pine Ridge Trail that lies west of Highway 385 will remain closed due to safety concerns with hazardous trees and the need to protect vulnerable resources following the recent fires. The Pine Ridge Trail east of Highway 385 remains open.

He asks that all visitors remain vigilant to possible safety concerns that may exist in post-fire environments, including hazardous trees, eroding roads and trails, or flash flooding.
