Victim unidentified in fiery crash Tuesday south of Cheyenne

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has not identified the driver of a pickup that was killed Wednesday afternoon in a fiery head on collision on interstate 25 south of Cheyenne.

Sergeant Stephen Townsend says the pickup was heading south in the northbound passing lane of I-25 at a high rate of speed when it collided head-on with a northbound semi. After impact the pickup caught fire and came to rest in the median. The tractor-trailer driven by 44 year old Francis Socek of New Jersey crossed the northbound lanes of travel and went off the road, coming to rest in the ditch.

The interstate was closed for two hours and traffic was diverted onto nearby High Plains Road.
