Robert Morris Zeller

Robert Morris Zeller passed away on October 15th at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance after a battle with cancer. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 20th, at Blackburn Mortuary, 15 East 10 North, Vernal, Utah 84078. Burial will be at Maser Fairview Cemetery, Maser, Utah. A memorial service will be at the Alliance Presbyterian Church at a later date.

Robert was born September 24, 1924, in St Paul, Nebraska, to Ollie Marie (York) and Morris E. Zeller. Bob, who was an only child, loved the extended family gatherings and his schoolmates. He attended rural schools, then Alliance High School, where he graduated in the class of 1941. A highlight of his life was when he and his horse, Silver, were chosen to be part of the re-enactment of pony express days in Alliance's 50th anniversary celebration. He enjoyed a life time of heavy construction work including building roads, dams, railroads, airports and

Bob married Betty Mart during the blizzard of 1949. Two sons, Robert Thomas and Ronald, and one daughter, Carolyn, completed the family.

As a young man he was a proud member of the Panhandle Patrol Horsemen's Association. Bob was a member of the National Rifle Association, Rotary, and was a past president of Good Sam RV Chapter 11. He dined every Tuesday with a group of men friends. Among the great joys of his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved to come and play with "Big Papa."

Preceding him in death were his parents and first wife, Betty, cousin Betty (Anderson) Brice and grandson, Bobby McGovern.

Robert married Donna (Case) Hagen in June of2005 after becoming reacquainted at a class reunion.

He is survived by sons, Robert (LaDonna), Ronald (Barbara) and daughter, Carolyn (J.P) Mann, all of Vernal; wife Donna, two step-daughters, Diana Martinez of Alliance and Katie Niessen of Edina, Minnesota; grandchildren, Andrew (Carrie) Zeller, Dale (Steffi) Urban, Lydia (Tony) Person, of Vernal, Angela (Alex) Roman of Kissimmee, Florida, and Betty Bonnie of Longview,
Texas, step-granddaughters Maria (Martinez) Lekvin, of Zephyrhills, Florida, Deborah Fallon of Edina, Minnesota, and Lynda (Bill) Forthman of Dalton, Georgia; 21 great-grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; many cousins including close friends Charles (Lee) Anderson of Scottsbluff and cousin-in-law, Richard Brice of Denver.
