Last NPVM open house next weekend

On Friday and Saturday during Gering's Oregon Trail Days, the North Platte Valley Museum will host a "last chance" open house. Admission will be waived during the event, which runs July 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and July 13 from after the Oregon
Trail Days parade until 4 p.m.

The open house will be one of the last opportunities for visitors to see NPVM before it closes permanently on August 17 to prepare for the
move to the Farm And Ranch Museum campus, which will be known as Legacy of the Plains Museum.

Legacy of the Plains board members will be present at the open house to answer questions about the collaborative museum project.

The open house will also feature a special display in the NPVM lobby of the dioramas created by the students from the "Gallery in a Box"
camp organized by the Legacy of the Plains Museums and Western Nebraska Community College. The students toured FARM and NPVM and then created dioramas of their ideal museums.

Aside from the OTD open house, NPVM will be open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends 1 to 4 p.m. through August 16.
