Wyoming Patrol: 80 mph means 80 mph and no higher

Wyoming Highway Patrol

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) The Wyoming Highway Patrol says all the new signs along Wyoming's interstate highways showing a speed limit of 80 mph really do mean 80 mph ... not even slightly higher.

A law that took effect July 1 raised the speed limit from 75 to 80 on almost 500 miles of interstate highway in Wyoming.

The Highway Patrol said Thursday many drivers are exceeding the new speed limit ... and they're pushing their luck.

Patrol Col. John Butler says the new speed limit is being strictly enforced.
