Smith supports no budget, no pay legislation
Third District Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) Thursday voted for legislation passed by the House that would require both the House and Senate to pass annual budgets before members of congress receive their paychecks.
Speaking on the House floor, Smith noted the Senate has not passed a budget for four years. Smith says comprehensive budget reform that addresses the nation's entitlement spending is needed to address the country's multi-trillion dollar deficit.
Smith also co-sponsored a bill that would require new regulations with an annual economic impact of more than $100 million to be approved by a stand-alone vote in Congress and signed by the President before they are enforced.
