Jonathan "Jon" Rubin Urwin, 38, Scottsbluff

Jonathan "Jon" Rubin Urwin, 38, of Scottsbluff, entered into rest Thursday (May 9, 2013) at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. His memorial funeral service will be held Monday (May 13, 2013) at 10:00 a.m. at the Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Pastor David Adams officiating. Jon requested casual attire at his service. Inurnment will be at the Mitchell City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Jones Mortuary in Mitchell is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jon was born October 8, 1974 at Scottsbluff to Kenneth and Karen (Asmus) Urwin. He attended Mitchell and North Platte schools. Jon later received a Certificate in Carpentry from the Job Corps. His son Brandon was born in 1994. For most of his life, Jon was a truck driver, and also worked various other jobs until ill health forced his retirement. Jon spent the last four years of his life at the Golden Living Center, where he operated the Coke Store, and became close friends with many of the residents and touched a lot of hearts. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Jon is survived by his son Brandon Moreno of North Platte; step granddaughter Sadie Dannatt of North Platte; mother Karen (Hurshel) Rogers of Scottsbluff; father Ken Urwin of Mitchell; sisters Julie (Jeff Jolliffe) Blanton, and Joy (Damon) Soucie all of Gering; nephews and nieces Reece and Kerrigan Blanton, and Whitnee Soucie all of Gering; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and Betty Urwin; maternal grandparents Rubin Asmus and Thelma Fisher; uncles and aunts Eldon Urwin, Mickey Adams, Tom Potter, Cleo Croft, and Caleb Croft.

Jon's family would like to thank the Golden Living Center staff for their wonderful care and friendship.
