Patrol makes arrests in I-80 drug stop near Sidney
Two Iowa residents have been arrested on felony drug charges after their car was stopped Tuesday afternoon on I-80 near Sidney with a significant amount of hashish and marijuana.
Court documents indicate a car driven by Benjamin Schneider was stopped for speeding around 1 p.m. by the Nebraska State Patrol. The document says the officer immediately detected an odor of raw and burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the car, including the console and trunk, revealed a number of heat sealed packages of marijuana with an approximate weight of three and a half pounds, two bricks of hashish, and a digital scale.
Schneider and a female passenger, Jessica Carroll, were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of hashish with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana over a pound and possession of drug paraphernalia. Schneider was also cited for speeding while Carroll was also booked in for possession of a controlled substance.
