Gering advertising again for golf restaurant operator
The city of Gering is making another effort to attract an operator for the city's golf course restaurant after a Las Vegas woman changed her mind about being the operator last month due to a lack of city response to her proposed contract amendments.
Members of the council's recreation committee Monday asked staff to advertise for letters of interest that would provide a general overview of what the applicants would do in a full service restaurant at the facility. Committee Chair Rebecca Shields says they will reach out to a wider area than past efforts, promoting the opportunity to the Front Range of Colorado and eastern Nebraska.
Shields says the committee is hoping to get more than the two applicants they received recently through a formal request for proposals.
Members of the council's receration committee and administrative committees would review any responses along with representatives of the mens and womens golf associations before the city asks for any specific proposals.
