Motorists need to be alert for traffic issues
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) _ Pavement work could restrict traffic on U.S. Highway 26 and Nebraska Highway 71 in Scotts Bluff County starting next week. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The Nebraska Roads Department says work is scheduled to begin next week on a stretch of U.S. Highway 26 that runs through the north side of Scottsbluff. Work also will begin on the Gering bypass of Nebraska Highway 71. Work's expected to be done by October.
Meanwhile, truck traffic is Scotts Bluff County is being asked to
not use North Highland Road to enter Box Butte County today. The road department
there is repairing culverts in the area through today. And Banner County Roads department will be closing Wrights Gap Road for bridgerepairs beginning Monday,....will be in effect for about two weeks.
Further out, construction has begun this week on the Lodgepole Bridge
on US 30 and 385 just west of Lodgepole. Traffic is beging detoured
out to I-80. The bridge is being replaced by a box culvert and the
work expected to be done this fall.
And work on I-80 from Bownson to just east of Chappell is underway....traffic is being maintained with reduced speed and
lane closures during the project.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The work is expected to be finished by October.
