Work starts on Kimball I-80 bridges
Weather permitting, construction work is scheduled to begin the week of June 24 on both bridges at the Interstate 80 (I-80) Kimball Interchange #22, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Reiman Corp. and Subsidiary, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, has the $798,000 contract. Work will include resurfacing both eastbound and westbound bridge decks along with the reconstruction of the paving and approach sections, including updating the guardrail. Both bridges will be under construction at the same time.
Traffic will be maintained through the work zone at a reduced speed with the use of lane closures in both directions. A 12-foot-width restriction will be enforced. The eastbound on-ramp coming from N-71 will be closed for the duration of the project and all eastbound interstate traffic will use the I-80 Interchange #20.
Work is anticipated to be completed by late summer.
