Howard Allison, 89, Gering
Howard Allison, 89, of Gering, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Legacy of the Plains in Gering with Pastor Lauren Ekdahl officiating. Inurnment will be in West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Legacy of the Plains or to First United Methodist Church in Gering. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory.
Howard was born August 13, 1924 in Lovell, WY to Frank and Dessie (Morrison) Allison. He came to Gering at the age of three where he grew up, attended school and farmed. He married Mary Coleman, August 17, 1958 in Paxton, NE, He spent most of his life fighting for water rights for area farmers. He was a board member of the Gering-Fort Laramie Irrigation for 16 years.
Howard was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Scotts Bluff Masonic Lodge #201 AF & AM.
He is survived by his wife: Mary; son: Jon (Kim) Allison, Mitchell, NE; step-daughter Susan Lamb, Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Cory Lockman, Mitchell and Scott Allison-Novotny, Gering; great granddaughter Natalie Novotny, Gering; brother Earl Allison, Texas and sister Margaret Masek of Scottsbluff.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Neil and Frank.
