North Platte city official dies in plane crash

GOTHENBURG, Neb. (AP) _ A 55-year-old student pilot is dead after a small plane crash in western Nebraska. The plane went down yesterday morning short of the grass runway at the Gothenburg airport. Officials say James Ross was alone in the plane. Federal authorities are investigating the crash.

North Platte Mayor Marc Kaschke says Ross was the city's director of
information systems.
