Scottsbluff students participate in District-wide emergency drill

Students being evacuated from Scottsbluff High School during Tuesday's drill

The Scottsbluff Public School District conducted a District-wide emergency drill Tuesday afternoon in all of their schools. Law enforcement and emergency response personnel participated in the exercise.

Parents, students and staff were advised of the drill in advance. The Scottsbluff Police Department, Scotts Bluff County 911 Emergency Communications, First Wireless, the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office, Scottsbluff Fire Department and Region 22 Emergency Management all provided support for the drill.

Superintendent Rick Myles says these simulations are conducted in order to help students and staff "feel prepared and not scared."

Myles says notes and information from today's drill will be compiled and discussed to help fine tune procedures and systems, and to demonstrate the district's continued focus on the safety of their children.
