Gering council to consider purchase of commercial property

The Gering city council will hold a special meeting Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. to consider the purchase of almost two acres behind the former Jirdon Agri-Chemical property north of the 10th and U Street intersection.

Documents from the Register of Deeds office indicate the property was transferred from Jirdon Ag to Westco August 23rd. The two acres are split into two lots, one larger than the other, with a lot owned by Kelley Bean between them.

City officials are not commenting on why they are considering a purchase of the property. The council agenda says the council may go into executive session to consider the purchase.
