Sidney man gets life in prison for drug related slaying

A 35 year old man found guilty of first degree murder in a drug-related slaying in Sidney has been sentenced to life in prison.

Jason William Custer of Sidney was given the life sentence Thursday for the 2012 murder of 35 year old Adam McCormick. He was also sentenced to 20 - 50 years for use of a firearm to commit a felony and 10-20 years for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Authorities said they think the two men were arguing about $160 in drug money. Custer fled Sidney to Big Springs, where he was arrested later that day at a motel.

Assistant Attorneys General Michael Guinan and Matt Lierman handled the case with the assistance of Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub.
