Orlena Pearl (Thomas) Bryan, 91, Broadwater

Orlena Pearl (Thomas) Bryan, 91 of Broadwater, departed from her earthly family to spend her birthday with her heavenly family on February 22, 2013.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bridgeport Church of Christ with burial at the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. The casket will be closed, friends may sign the register book Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bridgeport Memorial Chapel. A memorial has been established to the Church of Christ of Bridgeport or the Broadwater Fire Department.

Orlena (Ma) was born on February 24, 1921 to Clearance and Matilda (Schroth) Thomas at Menlo, Kansas, the oldest of four children. She married Elmer E. Bryan on August 21, 1939 at Colby, Kansas. To this union, three children were born: son Eddie, daughter Pearl and infant daughter Delores.

Orlena had a special place in her heart for her family, her bible, and farming. She stopped driving tractor at the age of 87 and was able to enjoy helping babysit three of her great grandchildren, Cord, Kaigan and Austin.

She leaves her daughter Pearl (Chuck) McBride, daughter-in-law Velma Bryan, daughter of the heart Bev Smith and extended family Jim and Carole Farrenkoph, grandsons Robin (Wendi) Bryan, Rustin (Liz) Bryan of Bridgeport, Ty (Allison) McBride of Broadwater, granddaughters Christine Johnson of New York, Tammy (Will) Mousel of Cheyenne Wells, CO and Kris (Duff) Arrants of Gering, as well as 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Orlena was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, infant daughter Delores, son Eddie, brother James and his wife, sister Alta and her husband and sister Pat and her husband.
