Four candidates apply for Bluffs council position

Four people have applied for the Scottsbluff city council seat vacated by long-time councilman Dave Boeckner.

Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says Linda Redfern, Pete Marez, Liz Hilyard, and Mark McCarthy have applied to fill the position. Kuckkahn says the candidates have received a questionnaire and their responses will be reviewed by the council. Kuckkahn says informal in-person interviews will also be conducted during the next two weeks.

Mayor Randy Meininger says the council will vote and fill the position at their October 21st meeting. The person selected will then be sworn in November 4th.

The appointed individual will then serve on the council until November 2014 unless elected to continue in the seat at that time.
