Bluffs council to consider Police union contract

The Scottsbluff city council Monday night will consider approving a three year police union contract, which includes a stipulation that there will be no more legal action on a past dispute regarding the union's health care plan.

The proposed contract will run from October 1st of this year to September 30th of 2016. City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says both sides believe the longer agreement will eliminate some of the contention in yearly negotiations.

Kuckkahn says the two sides have agreed that wages, health care and retirement will continue to be negotiated every year even though there is the more lengthy agreement on other issues.

Kuckkahn says for the first year in the agreement, the union will receive a three and a half percent hike in wages and benefits, retroactive to October 1st.
