Helen V. Nagel, Green Stoddard, 98, Scottsbluff

Helen V. Nagel, Green Stoddard, 98, of Scottsbluff, passed away March 24, 2014, at The Residency Care Center in Scottsbluff. Her memorial service will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. Memorial may be made to The Residency Care Center, First United Methodist Church or Hospice Care. Helen was born June 16, 1915, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Henry and Susan (Hessler) Nagel. She attended school in Scottsbluff. She was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Green from Scottsbluff in November 1932. They lived most of their married life in Scottsbuff. In 1959, they moved to Denver, Colorado and lived there until 1975, when they retired back in Scottsbluff. Her husband, Ted, passed away on March 11, 1978. In 1987, she met and married Clinton Stoddard and in 2007, Clinton passed away.
Helen enjoyed crocheting many doilies and afghans for her children and grandchildren. She loved to play bingo and many other games in the Care Center. She was always a good sport but very competitive, often winning. Her favorite sport to watch on TV was baseball and if they didn't win she always thought they "needed a new pitcher." She really enjoyed living in The Residency Care Center and would always comment on the good care that she received there.

Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of over 50 years. She was baptized when she became a member of the church.
Helen loved her children and grandchildren so much. One of the things she could do was cook and bake and she loved doing it. She always cooked big Sunday dinners when the children and grandchildren were there.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Ruff of Scottsbluff, Arlee(Bob) Dukes of Denver, Colorado and daughter-in-law, Shirley Green of Minatare; grandchildren, Fred T.(Judi) Ruff of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Greg W. Ruff of Baltimore, Maryland, Rob (Karen) Dukes of Sparks, Nevada, Debbie (Randy) Collins of Windsor, Colorado, and Jeff Green of Nixa, Missouri; thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne Schmidt of Scottsbluff; brother, Henry of Albany, Oregon; and a special niece, Pat Conklin-Shull of Grand Junction, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Theodore "Ted" Green and Clinton Stoddard; son, James Green; son-in-law, Fred W. Ruff; great-grandson Brandon Dukes; two sisters; and four brothers.
