Regional West staff welcome newly remodeled Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Staff who work at Regional West Medical Center's Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit are excited about a new expanded unit that includes a more functional central nursing area and two additional NICU beds. The expansion bring the number of beds from six to eight, which is what the unit is licensed for.
State of the art equipment for the two new beds was made possible with a $90,000 contribution from the Regional West Medical Center Foundation. Connie Rupp, Director of the Hospital Birth and infant Care Center and the Intensive Care Unit, says the improvements allow the hospital to provide improved care for the entire region.
Rupp says the beds provide a stable, warm environment for the babies and allows staff to take care of them with reduced movement of the infant. A special room for procedures and formula prep is also part of the nearly $1.5 million expansion.
