Scottsbluff man identified as victim in fatal accident south of Gering
A 49 year old man who died in a one vehicle accident Thursday afternoon has been identified as Larry Olbricht of Scottsbluff.
The Scotts Bluff county Sheriff's office says Olbricht was driving a green 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on Robidoux road approximately 2.8 miles west of Highway 71 south of Gering. The press release from Sheriff Mark Overman says shortly after cresting a hill, the vehicle left the roadway to the right (north), and rolled end over end a number of times before coming to rest in a depression. Olbricht was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel discovered that he was deceased at the scene. Deputy County Attorney Tiffany Wasserburger responded as coroner, and has ordered an autopsy.
Overman says apparently no one witnessed the crash but a passerby noticed the wrecked vehicle and notified authorities.
Overman says preliminary indications are that speed was a factor. At this point it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
