Jennie Salazar, 93
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for JENNIE SALAZAR, 93, at 10 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Ray Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartville, Wyoming cemetery. A Rosary/Wake service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the church. The casket will be open at the Rosary but closed at the Mass.
Jennie died January 14, 2013 at Community Hospital in Torrington. Memorials may be made to either St. Rose Church or the Senior Friendship Center. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send their condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com .
Jennie was born April 7, 1919 in Lincoln, New Mexico the daughter of Paz and Eloisa (Carabajal) Otero. She moved with her family to Hartville, Wyoming where, at age 20, she married Placido DeJesus Salazar. The couple had 12 children. Jennie stayed in Hartville awhile after her husband's death. In 1980, she moved to Torrington to live with her daughter, Marge. Jennie enjoyed visiting, watching TV and going for rides in the car. She also enjoyed spending time with family. Jennie liked to go on camping and fishing trips with her husband. She was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church.
Jennie is survived by six of her daughters, Bertha Salazar of Denver, CO, Marge Cadle of Torrington, WY, Rose Salazar of Sacramento, CA, Mary Fernandez of Sacramento, CA, Elise Salazar of Phoenix, AZ, and Theresa Garcia of Lander, WY; four sons, Ruben Salazar of Casper, WY, Joe Salazar of Green River, WY, Larry Salazar of Casper, WY and William Salazar of Burwell, NE; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Connie Valasquez and Julia Salazar; two brother, Eferen Otero and Manuel Otero; a sister Ramona Herrera; one grandson Bruce Fernandez Jr.; three granddaughters, Margarita Salazar, DeDe Lampman and Debbie Valasquez; and a great granddaughter Leticia Lampman.
