Scottsbluff woman killed in S.D. crash

A Scottsbluff woman was killed and her husband seriously injured Monday in a one-vehicle accident about 6 miles north of the Nebraska-South Dakota state line northwest of Crawford.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 58-year old Kathleen Knepp was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, 63-year old Danny Knepp, when he lost control after cresting a small hill on SD Highway 471 about six miles north of Ardmore.

The Patrol says the car left the roadway and rolled. Mrs Knepp, who was wearing the lap portion of her seatbelt but not the shoulder harness, received fatal injuries, while her husband who was wearing the full seatbelt suffered undisclosed life-threatening injuries.

The Patrol has not released details of the accident, but says speed is believed to have been a factor in the accident with the investigation continuing.
