Marie Krichau, 91, Gering

Marie Krichau, 91, of Gering, formerly of Mitchell, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Jones Mortuary Chapel in Mitchell with Larry Hessler officiating. In keeping with her wished her remains were cremated. Private inurnment will be in the Mitchell Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the Mitchell City Library. Her obituary may be viewed at where online condolences may be left for the family.

Marie was born October 29, 1921, in Akron, Colorado to George and Catherine (Berend) Nazarenus. At an early age she moved with her family to Scottsbluff where she grew up and received her education. She married Glenn Krichau March 2, 1953 in Gering, Nebraska. The family lived in numerous places before settling in Mitchell in 1965, where she raised her family and lived until moving to Heritage Estates in Gering.

To her grandchildren she was affectionately known as "Grandma K", and always was happy to provide her special chocolate chip cookies for them. She also was a very avid reader and a strong supporter of the Mitchell City Library.

Survivors include her daughters Barbara (Tearle) Schmer and Patricia Nielsen, both of Mitchell, and her sons Brad (Jen) Krichau of Golden, Colorado and Ward (Sara) Krichau of Scottsbluff. She is also survived by her grandchildren Marty (Ann) Schmer and their children Ryan and Reid of Lincoln, NE, and Tera Schmer, also of Lincoln, Amy Krichau and Brandon Krichau, both of Scottsbluff, Keifer, Khayla and Rhianna Krichau, all of Golden, Colorado, and her sister Lydia Steinert and her brother George Nazarenus, both of Gering.

Her parents, her husband Glenn and a son Peter Krichau preceded her in death.
