Schlaepfer gives 2013 OTD an A-
Oregon Trail Days General Chair Bill Schlaepfer gives this year's celebration an A-, saying the rain Friday night that cut the International Food Fair short was the only real issues during the four days. The Food Fair had a record number of vendors this year, and Schlaepfer believes a lot of them still did pretty well even with the rain.
Schlaepfer says there were great crowds at the Chili Cook-off Saturday, with a thousand people paying their way in to taste chili and 10,000 taste cups used. The only real traffic jam at Five Rocks Amphitheater occurred as the cook-off was getting underway at 3 p.m., the same time the carnival started again and the Mud Volleyball Tournament was in full swing.
Schlaepfer says with just one way in and one way out, some delays are to be expected. But he says the parking issues have been solved and the venue provides an opportunity to get some great pictures during the evening when all the lights are on.
Schlaepfer says the 1,000 people who attended the Josh Abbott Band concert means enough revenue was generated that another concert is planned again for next year.
