Ruth was born May 16, 1916 in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Beth Audet.
Ruth attended Bryant Elementary School in Independence at the age of 6; she graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1935. In her second grade she started piano lessons with her father; she continued her love of music by playing the piano at the South Side Community of Christ, in Independence, Missouri. She was a member of the Independence Chapter of Sweet Adelines when the chorus won its three blue ribbons in regional competition.
Besides her love of music, she loved cooking and was an active member of The Laurel Club of Independence, Missouri Community of Christ for more than 50 years, receiving a pin acknowledging her membership. She also managed elementary school cafeterias in Independence, Missouri for more than five years.
Flowers were her passion, too. Her last years she gave up trying to raise flowers and found artificial flowers were easier to keep blooming, but still enjoyed trying to raise them.
She began the process of moving to Potter, Nebraska senior housing on the now infamous 9-11. To pass her time, she enjoyed visiting the mountains and playing cards with the senior citizens of Potter. She found that going out at night was a little hazardous and resorted to daytime card playing. Her greatest card-playing love was Bridge.
Ruth was joined in marriage in September 1938 to Richard G. Dillee, son of A. K. and Lizzie Dillee in Independence, Missouri. To this marriage was born a daughter, G. R. "Jerry" Lewis.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Jerry, and husband, Jim of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; grandson Kent E and wife Meredith Lewis; two great grandchildren, Owen Mitchell and Claudia Ellen Lewis of Rockville, Maryland; sister-in-law Betty Audet, nieces Phyllis and husband Larry Cole and their children and grandchildren; Kimberly and her daughter Kylie Newhard; Linda Hinote and her children, spouses and grandchildren of Independence; Janice and David Finger of San Jose, California, their children, spouses and granddaughter in California; Sue and Mike Armstrong, their children, spouses and grandchildren of Denver, Colorado; a former German exchange student in Sidney, Nebraska hosted by her daughter, Jerry and husband Jim Lewis: Markus Ruchter and his wife, Nadine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest brother, Earl F. Audet, Jr; younger brother, Robert M. Audet and his wife, Frieda; her husband and his parents; Eunita and Pete Ford, their children and spouses; Ivan and Florence Dillee; Etzel and Frances Dillee, their daughter and granddaughter.
Ruth was of sound mind and independent to the end!
