Phase two of downtown apartments nearly complete

Phase two of the downtown Scottsbluff apartment project at the former U.S. Bank building is nearly complete. Twin Cities Development Executive Director Rawnda Pierce says installation of a fire alarm system is the last thing left before the nine apartments will be ready for occupancy in early February.

Pierce says five or six of the new apartments have solid commitments from tenants and those residing in the six Phase One apartments have enjoyed their last 12 months downtown.

Pierce says she is also pleased private interests have built or plan to build more apartments downtown. Pierce notes Rick Wayman has already completed apartments upstairs in the Boutique building and she there are others that are planning to do the same thing as well.

Pierce says there are also interested parties who would like to put more restaurants downtown, but it is difficult right now with few vacant buildings.
