Drunk driving arrests, drug theft part of holiday law enforcement
Three people were arrested for drunk driving by the State Patrol Sunday, two of them following an accident in Sioux County north of Morrill. The Patrol says 34 year old Mika Ewald of Nickerson, Nebraska ran his Jeep Wrangler off the roadway into a ditch around 4 a.m.
The accident caused an estimated $1,000 dollars in damage. Ewald was arrested for drunk driving and a passerby was also arrested for drunk driving. His name is not included in the report.
The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office arrested a 33 year old Scottsbluff man has been arrested for possession of oxycodone and misdemeanor theft after taking the pills from a relative's house.
Court documents say Justin Sanford was visiting his uncle and aunt when the theft occurred. It was discovered shortly after he left the house Christmas Eve when his aunt went into the bathroom and found the pills missing. Sanford was commanded to come back to the home by his uncle and he was arrested after he returned the pills.
The document says a couple pills were also found in his sock when he was booked into the jail.
