Willis Schwartzkopf, 79, Scottsbluff
Willis Schwartzkopf, 79, of Scottsbluff, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 11am until 7pm on Monday, January 21 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorials in Willis's honor be made in care of the family to be designated at a later time. Online condolences may be left and a memorial candle in Willis's memory may be lit at www.jolliffefuneralhome.com. Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements.
Willis was born in Scottsbluff to Henry and Netty (Krueger) Schwartzkopf. He received his education and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952. He married Patricia Anderson on June 25, 1954 and to this union was born 2 sons, Steven and Rick. Willis worked for his parents at their grocery store until he and his brother Curtis bought the family business in the early 1950's.
He had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed many outdoor pursuits such as flying, scuba diving, shooting sports and camping. He was also an avid football fan. He was Boss of the Year by the Scottsbluff Jaycees and a lifelong member of Salem Congregational Church.
Willis made friends wherever he went throughout his life and was known by all for his sense of humor, easy smile and big heart. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much; they were the light of his life and gave him tremendous joy.
He was blessed with his loving wife Patricia; sons Steven (Lori) Schwartzkopf and Rick Schwartzkopf; grandchildren Josh Schwartzkopf, Joel Schwartzkopf, Kaci (Jordan) Lockwood, Bethany Schwartzkopf, Amy (Mike) Ranalletti and April Schwartzkopf; nine great grandchildren; brother Curtis (Norma) Schwartzkopf and faithful dog Heidi Jo.
His parents, sister Darlene Mowry, father and mother-in-law Howard & Jo Anderson, and daughter-in-law Sandy Schwartzkopf preceded him in death.
