Two finalists for Chadron City Manager
There are now 2 finalists to be the next Chadron city manager. Each city council member 2 weeks ago submitted 2 names from the pool of 36 applicants they'd like to see as finalists, and all 5 council members turned in the same 2 names.
One is a local resident with no experience as a city manager...Northwest Community Action Partnership program director Wayne Anderson.
The other is veteran city administrator Barry Cook, who announced his resignation after 18 years with Green River, Wyoming, but has continued to work for the city on a consulting basis until his contract ends this Thursday.
Chadron has been without a fulltime city manager since Sandy Powell resigned in October, although retired longtime Chadron police chief Ted Vastine has been the part-time interim city manager since shortly after that.
City Clerk Donna Rust is now contacting Anderson and Cook to arrange a special meeting where the council will hold public interviews of each man separately...using the list of roughly 20 questions used with its initial group of 4 finalists earlier this year.No date has been set for that meeting.
