Plea agreement in child enticement case
A registered sex offender charged with child enticement and possession of child pornography entered a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday.
24 year old Matthew Crable of Bayard entered a no contest plea to a charge of enticement by electronic communication device, a Class ID felony.
Crable was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol in September after an undercover investigation after a Morrill County Sheriff's deputy reported an 11 year old girl had been receiving text messages from an unknown man. The number was traced to Crable, a registered sex offender, who in 2011 entered a no contest plea to a charge of attempted sexual assault of a child after having consensual sex with a 15-year old girl in his pickup in rural Scotts Bluff County.
A State Patrol Investigator posed as a 13 year old girl and began communicating with Crable, who court records say transmitted lewd, lascivious and obscene language to the investigator. After asking the girl to meet him for sex, Crable was arrested and taken into custody at the arranged meeting location.
Three counts of possession of child pornography against Crable were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Sentencing for Crable is set for February 4th at 3:30 p.m.
