Thelma Fay Lindeken, 80, Scottsbluff

Thelma Fay Lindeken, 80, of Scottsbluff, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Fr. Vince Parsons as Celebrant. A rosary will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place in accordance with Thelma's wishes. Memorials may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice.

Thelma was born February 18, 1933 in Rushville, Nebraska to Frank and Nora (Jacobs) Cowan. She attended various schools before receiving her GED and went on to participate in classes from WNCC.

Thelma married Donald Lindeken on March 6, 1954 in Greeley, Colorado. The couple made their home in Scottsbluff where they lived from September 1961 until each of their passing.

Thelma was very involved in 4-H. She mentored numerous kids in the program throughout the years. She also raised sheep, dogs and chickens. Thelma's talents extended to several crafts including sewing and quilting. Many friends and family benefited from her knack for canning and making delicious jellies and breads.

Thelma had a special sense of humor which she kept even in her ill health. She loved spending time with her family and preparing large dinners for all of them to share. Time spent with her grandchildren was especially very valued to her.

Survivors include her children, Sherry Anderson of Gilmer, TX, Robert (Linda) Lindeken of Lakeside, CA, David Lindeken and Ivan Lindeken both of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Danielle, Tosha, TJ, Elizabeth, Julie Ann, Melissa, Brian, Greg, Jennifer, Michael and Kevin; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathearn Holmes of Oregon City, OR, Eunice (Don) Lease of Harrisburg and Judy (William) Brewer of Scottsbluff; brothers, Charles (Maryanne) Cowan of Gering, William (Brenda) Cowan of Gunnersville, AL and Robert (Valerie) Cowan of Scottsbluff; brother-in-law, Albert (Betty) Lindeken; sister-in-law, Nadine (Bob) Marchant; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Thelma in death were her parents; husband, Don; daughter, Bonnie; brothers, Paul and Bert; daughter-in-law, Quana Jo; brother-in-law, Leon "Junior" Holmes; and nephews, Eric Lindeken and Kenny Hoxworth.
