Joan Jean Bowen was born November 28, 1927 at Anselmo, NE to George and Ethel Grace (Riggs) Bowen. In 1933 she moved with her family to Scottsbluff where she attended school and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1946. She was baptized and took Jesus as her savior in 1939. She was a faithful follower all her life in the Christian Church. She was a nurses aide at Methodist Hospital during her high school years and took her nurses training through Methodist Hospital in 1947, 1948 and 1949. She was married to Charles Snocker January 21, 1949. To this union was born three children: Frank "Arkie" Bill and Cherry. Together with Charlie they were youth group sponsors at the Christian Church in Greeley, CO while he attended college there. Upon his graduation, they moved back to Gering where he taught school and she did private duty nursing. While in Denver, for four years, they sponsored the youth group at Westside Christian Church and again at Central Church of Christ in Gering from 1957 until moving to Scottsbluff in 1962 where they sponsored youth at Church at Bryant.

As a nurse for 50 years, Jean did floor duty, private duty and her much loved recovery room nursing. All those years she was growing flowers and it was her pleasure to take bouquets to her patients or friends who needed a little cheering up. She also did a few weddings with her home grown flowers. Through the years, Jean treasured the friendships of her "nursing buddies" , ladies in T. E. C. home extension club, the "Mother Cluckers", Grandmothers in Touch prayer group, her neighbors and countless church friends. In the church, she and Charlie were avid supporters of the Faith Promise mission giving, always encouraging those in the mission field. She was forwarding agent for Bill and Betty Turner in the Philippines and Japan for 26 ½ years (before computers). She loved being "Grandma Jean" , the helper in the 2's and 3's Sunday school children for several years.

She is survived by her children Frank "Arkie", Bill, and Cherry; brother Bob (Marvene) Bowen of Lincoln and their children (whom she dearly loved and enjoyed); grandchildren: Biff Jay (Jenny) Snocker, Dr. Amanda (Brian) Fitzgerald, Mary Snocker, John (Samantha) Snocker, Aaron (Rose) Snocker, Rebekah and Ben Snocker, Missy and Rachel Saito, Cody Himmerick and Zach Staman and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, infant brother and her husband.
