John Charles Cressy, Gering

John Charles Cressy of Gering, passed away January 27, 2013 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, NE. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 1, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering, with, The Reverend Richard Neugebauer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill, NE. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel Thursday between 1-8:00 p.m. with family present between 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given in his name and will be forwarded to ALS In The Heartland and The ALS Association Omaha Chapter.

John was born November 16, 1955 in Louisville, KY. At age 6 he was welcomed into the loving home of Robert "Bud" and Rose Cressy in Morrill, NE. He attended Morrill Public Schools and Sidney Vo-Tech College. John met the love of his life, Ginger Marsh, in Morrill and they were united in marriage on July 28, 1974.

For 22 years he enjoyed working in the auto body industry. He sold and serviced auto engine computer analyzers for Sun Electric Corp in the mid 1980's. In 1995, he went to work for UPPR as conductor and engineer. In September 2009, he was diagnosed with ALS thus retiring from UPPR in October 2009.

In his spare time, John enjoyed restoring classic cars and motorcycles. John was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with family and many, many friends.

John is survived by his best friend and wife Ginger, his brother and wife, Dr. Charles "Chuck" and Janice Cressy of Chadron, sisters, Deloris Huffman and Linda Tiff of Lincoln, NE, and Michelle Tiff Wiles of Washington, brothers Bill Rice of California and Dale Rice of Wood River, NE, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Scott Robert.
