Scottsbluff, Terrytown assessing damage to property
Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says the city had just finished making the last repairs from property damaged in a severe hailstorm two years ago when Tuesday night's hailstorm occurred.
Kuckkahn says while the severity of the damage to vehicles and cars may not be as bad as the previous storm, it is still widespread and impacts all of the city's property. Kuckkahn says the city will do what is necessary to protect its investments while being responsible about not over-extending the claims.
Kuckkahn says the transportation buildings close to the railroad tracks south of West Overland had the heaviest damage, with windows broken out and what appears to be serious roof damage. City Hall also had lettering on signage knocked off and the condition of the roof is unknown.
Terrytown Mayor Greenwalt says there was significant damage to a lot of the city's housing, including broken windows and holes in siding. Greenwalt says adjustors will be out to inspect the city's buildings, which received widespread damage. Vehicles in Terrytown had heavy damage, many of them with broken windows
