Sidney man faces multiple drug counts after "friendly" search
A Sidney man who told officers he had been selling marijuana for up to three months to make ends meet faces multiple drug counts. The Cheyenne County Attorney's office says 51 year old Valente Acosta Simental is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine. and possession of drug related money.
Court documents indicate officers with the WING Drug Task Force said they could smell marijuana prior to the suspect letting them in to his apartment after they knocked on his door Tuesday.
The arrest affidavit says once inside they observed pipes with marijuana residue and bags and containers with suspected marijuana. They also found evidence of methamphetamine in bags and pipes, plus digital scales, large amounts of money and other drug paraphernalia indicating drug distribution was taking place.
